Cornerstone
was a strange and wonderful animal. i've been to other festivals
before, was given words of advice and tips from my friend, John, i visited
a website that contained tips on surviving the festival, and yet only experience
completely prepares you for a festival of this magnitude. and once
you've been you really can't provide an accurate description to anyone
- unless they too have attended in the past.
so much music,
so much dust, so many tents, so many people, sweat, cameras, cars, constant
movement. hot portapotties, freezing cold showers (but boy after
the initial shock they were wonderful!), smelly "egg" water...
but the moment
we pulled away to leave the festival i already began to miss it.
my 2 partners
in crime - Quin and Trilisa - and i all signed up to volunteer for the
week. we did the seemingly cushy job of overnight security.
Quin was assigned the Magazine Stage, Trilisa and i were assigned the Artrageous
Tent. i think ours was the easier task. normally Quin had to
wait until 2 a.m. for the midnight set to end, then until 3 a.m. for the
stage to be cleared of people and equipment. only to be awoken at
7:30 in the a.m. to the musical sounds of chainsaw art. :-)
anyhow - by
the end of the week we didn't want to take another photo or hear another
show - but along the way we made lots of memories, took a ton of photos,
and really had a lot of fun.
